“26th Chander Memorial Rally” – All set to go!

It is that time of the year when racing, rally, and navigation enthusiasts in the city get together to participate in one of the most eagerly awaited events of Coimbatore Auto Sports Club (CASC). The “26th Chander Memorial Rally 2025”, for 4 Wheelers will be conducted on 22nd & 23rd November 2025. This year the event is a part of the Covai Vizha. The rally which has been conducted for the past 25 years without a break is a record in Indian Motorsport for an event run in the memory of a person. Since he lived for Motorsports, his family has been sponsoring the event every year to keep his memory alive among Motorsport enthusiasts.

The “26th Chander Memorial Rally 2025” the 5th Qualifier round of the Indian National TSD Rally Championship is being organized by Coimbatore Auto Sports Club and is sponsored by M.K.Chander Memorial Trust, India Motor Sport, Vamcy Merla and SGA Cars. The CASC, considered to be one of the most active motorsport clubs in the country, has been organizing motorsport events for several decades now, many of which are rated to be one of the best in India.

We expect competitors from pan India to take part in the event. We have received entries from Delhi, Bombay, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Eranakulam etc. We have six classes in the qualifying round and OPEN and NOVICE classes and a separate class for LADIES in the open event. All classes have attractive prize money along with trophies.

The event will be flagged-off from the Coimbatore Cosmopolitian Club, Race Course, Coimbatore -641 018 on 23rd November 2025, at 8.30 AM.

The Prize Distribution function will be held on 23rd evening at 7.00 PM at Coimbatore Cosmopolitan Club, Race Course, Coimbatore. The prizes will be given by Thiru. K. Karthikeyan, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, Coimbatore.

Mr. M.K. Chander (Born on 13.11.1965 & Expired on 19.12.1999) was a patron involved in Motor Sports in a big way and his illustrious rallying career in motorsports spanned over fourteen years. He started his rallying career in 1985 as a Rider and then switched over to Navigation in 1987. He has navigated over 100 rallies both in 2 Wheelers and 4 Wheelers categories and has secured podium finishes in more than 60 rallies. He has been an inspiration to many youngsters and represented famous teams like TVS SUZUKI, MRF and JK TYRES.

This rally which is run on Time, Speed & Distance (TSD) format is dedicated to his achievements in Motor Sports. There will be secret checkpoints enroute to monitor the speeds of the contestants.

Every second is liable for a penalty whether they are running late or early. It is expected to be a enjoying and fun filled event for rally enthusiasts as they keep guessing where they are going following the tulip chart. 40 cars are expected to take part in this event.

This year’s event covers approximately distance of 100 kms which will pass through Okklipalayam, Otthakalmandapam, Valukuparai, Perumpathi, Kalathur, Vadakipalayam, Puravipalayam, Muthugoundenur, Pachapalayam and finish at Palathurai by 1.30pm. Speed is not the criteria for this event, but the accuracy of driving the vehicle maintaining the given speed and following the road map correctly will determine the winner. The average speed of the event will be around 35 Kmph.
