India Joins Global IAME Karting Movement with Launch of National Series in Coimbatore
COIMBATORE, May 26, 2026 – Indian motorsport reached a historic milestone with the official announcement that India has joined the globally renowned IAME karting movement through the launch of the IAME Series India.
The opening round of the five-round National Series, promoted by RA Motorsports, will take place at the CoASTT circuit in Coimbatore on Sunday, May 31, 2026 with 34 entries.
The Series brings together the India’s promising talent on an international-standard platform, utilizing internationally acclaimed IAME (Italian American Motor Engineering) power plants across four categories: Mini U10, Mini (X30 Water Swift 60cc Engine), Junior (125cc Junior X30 Engine), and Senior (125cc Senior X30 Engine).
The competitive field features, among others, Chennai talents Rehan Khan Rasheed and Aaruthran Prabu (Asia-Pacific championship Gold Medalist) besides the promising Shiv Neel, son of India’s first Formula 1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan.
The big incentive for the competitors is that the top two finishers in each category at the end of the Series will earn the opportunity to represent India at the prestigious IAME Asia Finals, scheduled to be held at the historic Macau International Circuit in December.
RA Motorsports, represented by Rasheed Khan and Dr. Sree Prathap said in a joint statement: “We are proud to launch the IAME Series India, integrating our country into a global program active in 48 countries. Our objective is to deliver a professionally managed, sustainable, and internationally aligned series under FMSCI regulations. We are also working to welcome Asian teams and drivers to elevate the competitive standard and provide international exposure for Indian athletes.
“The IAME Series India is a five-round National Series, registered and conducted under the regulations of FMSCI, ensuring National recognition, sporting fairness, and adherence to globally accepted standards.
The IAME Series India is a significant development considering that several current Formula 1 drivers transitioned through the series. They include Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, Oscar Piastri, Oliver Bearman and Arvid Lindblad who competed in IAME-run championships before reaching F1.

- Rounds 1 & 2: May 31 and June 28 – CoASTT Kartmania, Coimbatore
- Rounds 3 & 4: July 31 and August 2 – MIKA, Chennai
- Round 5 (Grand Finale): August 30 – Kartopia, Bengaluru
